Problem 2

Solve the problem.
One pump can drain a pool in 8 minutes. When a second pump is also used, the pool only takes 3 minutes to drain. How long would it take the second pump to drain the pool if it were the only pump in use?

    1. simply do 2/5 of 210
    =2/5 x 210 = 84 doctors

    The pool in minutes using that information you can drain 38 of the pool in minutes and solve for the first one.

    210 / 5 x 2 = ……

    b) call first Pump x
    call second pump y
    x = 8 mins
    x + y = 3 mins
    x + y - x = 8 - 3 = …..
